Hands Up Y'all
South Bronx is back, with another sizzling-hot groove, combined with a rap message that highlights one of America's biggest urban problems: police brutality and excessive incarceration of some minority groups.

The Bottom Line
This funky, energized, follow-up single to "The Big Throwdown" makes us take a hard look at a number of issues that affect the American economy. The upbeat, danceable feel of the music helps to counteract the effects of the political statement. Released: 1982
The Big Throwdown
(Brunswick Records)
This is the same, exact single as the one described below. The R&B giant, Brunswick Records, entered into a pressing & distribution deal with the start-up label, Rissa-Chrissa Records. So, the record began appearing with the Brunswick Label in 1981.
Released in: 1981
The Big Throwdown
(Rissa-Chrissa Records)
In 1980, Rissa-Chrissa Records featured its very first artist: South Bronx. With a rough demo-turned-record, "The Big Throwdown" was one of the very first rap records to have lyrics that mentioned issues about foreign politics. Although they were just briefly mentioned, it was still risky for this up and coming genre of music. South Bronx was on the cutting edge!
